United Way of Hastings Allocates Funds to Lifeworks

(HASTINGS, MN)  The United Way of Hastings (UWH) is pleased to allocate $6,000 to Lifeworks to support its work in the Hastings community. 

"The United Way of Hastings supports Lifeworks mission which is to serve our community and people with disabilities as we live and work together," said Tara Donohue Weiss, Executive Director.  "Lifeworks provides students and adults with disabilities the programs and support they need to pursue fulfilling work in the community, to have rewarding social and educational experiences, and to experience increased independence."  For more than 40 years Lifeworks has coordinated with employers, volunteers, and government agencies to create additional opportunities for people with disabilities.  Individuals ages 14 through adult, both men and women, are served by Lifeworks.

“Lifeworks helps people with disabilities live fuller lives that are integrated in the flow of the community experience,” said Donohue Weiss.  “Through employment at area businesses, customized services, and social enrichment opportunities, Lifeworks provides the tools people need to build the lives they want to live.”  In the past year, Lifeworks in Hastings provided employment and/or volunteer services to the following businesses: Ace Hardware, Alexis Bailly Vineyard, City of Hastings, Coborns, Creative Confectionaries, Cub Foods in Cottage Grove and Hastings, Dakota County Government Center, Ebenezer Day Break, Emily’s Bakery and Deli, Fluegels, Goodwill, Hastings Family Services, Joseph’s Café – Stillwater, Leduc Mansion, Metro Urology, Nuclear Management Company, Presbyterian Homes – Stillwater, Renewal by Andersen –Cottage Grove, Target – Hastings and No. St. Paul, Tartan Park – Lake Elmo, Trader Joe’s – Woodbury, United Way of Hastings, and YMCA of Hastings.
