New Staff Joins United Way of Hastings
United Way of Hastings (UWH) is pleased to welcome Karen Hancock as its first Fundraising & Development Manager. Karen recently moved to this area from Michigan where she spent the past seven years as Campaign and Volunteer Manager as well as the Community Development Officer for the Allegan County United Way and Volunteer Center. In addition to being well-versed in United Way culture and best practices, Karen is very familiar with the particular needs of a small service area similar to the UWH service area.
Karen has significant experience in leading organizations through periods of growth and transition. She will be meeting with community members over the coming months and is looking forward to building awareness of the impactful work that is done by UWH and its partner agencies. In addition, Karen will be supporting the UWH Resource & Development Committee as well as the UWH Marketing & Communications Committee.
Karen is a world traveler as well as an avid history and culture buff who enjoys getting lost in museums, libraries, and old graveyards, especially in small towns. In her spare time, she plays video games, tends to her herb garden, and contemplates life in Ancient Macedonia. Mom of five grown children, and grandmother of three, Karen keeps busy attending graduations (daughter Rose, Michigan State University Class of 2015), weddings (daughter Julia, July 2015), and births (grandson Carter, February 2015). Her secret ambition has always been to be a backup singer.
Please say hello to Karen when you see her out and about in the community or stop by the office. If you would like to reach out to Karen, please feel free to contact her via phone at 651-438-3337 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
