United Way Response to Nepal and Baltimore
Our hearts go out to the many communities in Nepal devastated by the tragic earthquake and aftershocks that struck Saturday. The United Way Worldwide Nepal Earthquake Recovery Fund has been established with a focus on long-term recovery and relief. United Way network partners in the immediate region, with support from United Way Worldwide, will look to work with partners in the public and private sectors to help the impacted people and communities with recovery and rebuilding efforts. Donations to the fund can be made online at unitedway.org/nepalearthquake.
In Baltimore, the events that have escalated over the last few days have resulted in authorities declaring a state of emergency in the city. The United Way of Central Maryland in Baltimore will continue to work with local leaders to ensure the health and safety of all Baltimore residents.
Both events underscore the need for a collective response and United Way's role in ensuring that human need is met and communities are restored. Please watch for updates in the coming days.
